Boutz Cellars Labyrinth Grenache Paso Robles 2021 is a bright, small-production red from Paso Robles’ west side. The wine takes its name from the ancient labyrinth, a symbol tied to the island of Crete and the Boutz family’s Greek roots. As a result, it brings a personal story to a lively California Grenache.The nose opens with wild strawberry, black cherry, raspberry, white pepper, and dry herbs. Then the palate moves into red plum, fig, anise, and soft spice. Grenache gives the wine its silky texture and lifted red fruit, while the Adelaida District’s limestone-rich soils add a clean mineral edge.This 2021 vintage feels medium-bodied, smooth, and full of energy. At 15.7% ABV, it carries Paso Robles ripeness, yet bright acidity keeps the wine fresh. Fine-grained tannins add shape without making the finish feel heavy. Meanwhile, notes of red fruit, herbs, pepper, and subtle earth linger with charm.Only 420 cases were produced, which gives Labyrinth added appeal for buyers who enjoy boutique Paso Robles wines.
